Samsung today expanded its Android tablet portfolio by announcing two new Galaxy Tab 3 devices to go along with the Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch model previously announced. Though it also introduced the Galaxy Note 8.0 to the market earlier last month, Samsung has already added the Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch to its slate of devices.

The Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch might overlap the 7-inch model considering that there’s only an inch separating the two displays; however, the 8-inch model makes some noticeable hardware upgrades to further distinguish itself. The tablet has an 8-inch screen with WXGA resolution (1280×800, 189ppi), a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, a 64GB microSD slot, and a 4,450 mAh battery. For photos and videos, it has a 5-megapixel rear and a 1.3-megapixel front camera combination.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean integrated with Samsung Touchwiz UX handles the software on the Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch. It features Samsung’s S Translator app for audio text language translation, S Travel for local information when visiting new countries, Group Play for connecting to multiple Samsung devices for media playback, and Reading Mode to automatically adjust brightness and colors to improve eBook reading.
